The lessons are tailored to your child’s specific needs to ensure the fastest progress in a fun and encouraging environment. OtterSwim’s skill-based learning system is designed to identify and accelerate strengths while addressing weaknesses. The levels start with stroke improvement and survival skills, gradually increasing the distance and stroke efficiency. As they progress through their stroke developments, their lessons will be modified and advanced, eventually coaching them to perform at a competitive level.

Seal

About Seal

Is your little one able to paddle 5-7 meters without any help? If yes, then OtterSwim’s Seal classes are for your child. Our swimming lessons are based on a multi-tiered program keeping your child’s optimal progression in mind.

The program consists of:

  • Stroke Mechanics for Freestyle
  • Buoyancy Control
  • Trainings to enable Independent Swimming

Seal Level is for

  • Confident & Independent swimmer
  • Strong kicking and paddling skills
  • Can comfortably submerge underwater and blow bubbles
  • Able to propel himself/herself through the water without assistance
  • Small group of 4 kids per class

Expected Milestones to Achieve

  • Keep eyes down in water while swimming for 5 seconds.
  • Maintain strong kicks and glides while propelling through water
  • Able to execute basic freestyle for 7 meters independently
  • float on back for a minimum of 5 seconds
  • Comfortably kick on back with a kickboard

Dolphin

About Dolphin

The Dolphin Skill Development level is for kids who can already execute an overarm freestyle. Your child will learn how to produce unassisted freestyle with bilateral breathing and backstroke with a kickboard. By the time your child is ready for progression, they will be prepared to develop their backstroke skills and embark on breaststroke mechanics.

Dolphin Level is for

  • Independent and confident swimmer
  • Able to perform freestyle arms and backstroke kicks
  • Can propel themselves through the water without assistance
  • Small group of 4 kids per class

Expected Milestones to Achieve

  • Streamline kick through the water independently
  • Execute freestyle with bilateral breathing without a kickboard
  • Execute backstroke with a kickboard

Stingray

About Stingray

The Stingray level is for kids who are already able to swim freestyle at ease and assisted backstroke. In this level, your child will be perfecting stroke mechanics of freestyle and backstroke, embarking on breaststroke kicks. This would be the very first level where your child be encouraged to complete a full length of the pool – a kickstart to endurance training.

Stingray Level is for

  • Independent and confident swimmer
  • Able to perform bilateral breathing, freestyle and backstroke kicks unassisted
  • Can swim unassisted for 15m
  • Small group of 4 kids per class

Expected Milestones to Achieve

  • Execute freestyle with bilateral breathing without a kickboard
  • Execute backstroke without kickboard
  • Swim Breaststroke with assistance

Swordfish

About Swordfish

In the Swordfish level, the focus will be for your child to continue to perfect their breaststroke as well as introducing the butterfly stroke. This would be OtterSwim’s final level in the strokes mechanics program, certifying your child in mastering all four strokes whilst gaining endurance to swim the full length of the pool.

Swordfish Level is for

  • Swim unassisted for 15m in Freestyle & Backstroke
  • Able to execute breaststroke kicks
  • Small group of 4 kids per class

Expected Milestones to Achieve

  • Execute all 4 strokes without assistance
  • Swim laps of the pool continuously without pause

SwimSafer

About SwimSafer

SwimSafer is a national water safety program developed to raise the standard of swimming proficiency in Singapore. Created specially for children below 16 years old, this program will help evolve your child from a non-swimmer into a good swimmer.

This is the only program recognised by all schools, institutions and water-related sports (e.g. Kayaking, scuba diving) in Singapore.

Important Message For Parents

Baby can read your body language and any subtle changes. Try to be calm, relax and always put on your best smile! Your little one will soon discover that swimming is a fun and enjoyable experience.

Do not expect your baby to submerge or swim very soon after they are introduced to the water. Every little children is individual. Focus on the long term goal and avoid putting pressure on short term achievement.

Don’t be over ambitious. Allow your babies to gradually develop and improve at his or her own pace.

Practise makes perfect. Every children needs regular lesson and training, never try to hurry! Your child will learn much more in short frequent regular visits than in the occasional long one.

If your child accidentally ingested water during the lesson. Cough together and give them a gentle pat on their back. Praise them for trying and don’t forget to put on your best smile! Children needs to be encourage. By doing this, children will enjoy and have fun.

If your child cries during the lesson, it doesn’t mean that your child is not ready for swimming lesson. You child may be getting accustomed to the new surroundings, or just having a bad day. Give your child some time and let him develop his confident, very soon he will be able to enjoy this wonderful experience in a total relax environment with us.
